visiting

today i visited mimi's work and her friend Rob took some photos of me, you can see them at www.duvallestudios.com Rob does some pretty fantastic work, especially for just snapping some shots while i was in the office!

after my impromptu photo shoot i visited great-grandma Deloris and great-grandpa Leon. they have been visiting from arizona and they're getting ready to head home so i wanted to spend a little more time with them before they left. i'm so excited, they put an offer on a condo here in Oregon so hopefully soon they'll come here to stay for good!

chr picnic and great-grandpa John's birthday

wow! what a busy day today was! first i helped uncle and the grandpas build a gate:

then it was mommy and daddy's company picnic and i got to go and meet all the new babies that were born during the mini baby boom at mommy and daddy's work. there was wyatt and davis and vincent and nicholas and zachary... we all had so much fun playing together. everybody is bigger than me so i got a little roughed up but i'm pretty tough so i held my own. i shared my ball with zachary and spidey with davis and my paci with vincent!

after the picnic mommy and i raced to northwest where mommy had reserved a room at serratto for great-grandpa John's 84th birthday! our family had a lovely dinner and i was supposed to sleep but it was too exciting to sleep! i helped uncle andy pick some wine for dinner and everybody took turns holding me so mommy and daddy could enjoy a nice meal. we all had lots of fun.

grandmas

i love all my grandmas. i love my mimi, i love my grandma Laura, i love my GG and my great-grandmas Deloris and Carol and Louise and i love my Halmony- that's my korean grandma.

today i spend time with mimi while mommy worked on her dissertation. mimi took auntie tay to old navy to spend some of her nanny money and i went along. mimi bought me a new teddy bear and a new sun hat and auntie tay bought me some new clothes. i'm so spoiled.

after i came home from mimi's house we had dinner with Halmony, she was in Portland to visit auntie lisa and find a wedding dress for Susan so she made Korean bbq for mommy and daddy. mommy tried something called kim chi which is fermented cabbage. sounds yucky but mommy loved it!

my day with daddy and dexter

fridays are the best days because i get to spend them with daddy while mommy works on her dissertation. we sleep in together and then i sit in my bouncy seat while daddy eats breakfast and then we work out on my play gym. if it's nice outside we take a blanket out front and sit under the tree. today i worked on sitting up and i sat up for a whole ten minutes, mostly by myself. uncle andy comes over when mommy gets home and he and daddy go work out at the big people gym. today daddy and i spent time with dexter and mommy before he went to the gym with uncle andy.

hump day

wednesday is over the hump day, it's mommy's longest day of work before her thursday day off and she's always super tired after she gets home. it's also the day auntie tay has to go home. today mommy had an especially long and tiring day that started off badly and got worse as the day proceeded. she was wiped out after working but instead of taking auntie tay to forest grove we took her to GG's house and GG made a special meal that is one of mommy's favorites- GG's special meatloaf and salad and homemade ice cream for desert and GG's special wacky cake that grandma likes to eat with milk. i played with grandma and grandpa and auntie and my great grandparents while mommy rested. it was a nice night with family, just what mommy needed.

happy birthday hudson! happy birthday auntie jessica!

today was my buddy Huddy's first birthday party!

it was my first "first birthday" party! we had lots of fun. the party was at his grandma's house and my friend Ethan (Huddy's cousin) was there too!

Huddy ate a cupcake which sure looked good and everybody sang to him! i brought him a truck.

we took a pictures with all the boys and i was having so much fun i couldn't keep my super long tongue in my mouth!

after Huddy's party we went to GG's house for a birthday party for auntie jessica. we had pizza and homemade ice cream, well the big people did, i enjoyed my yummy milk. it was such a lovely evening and i played in the backyard with mommy and MoPa:

last month for uncle D's birthday we gave him a Cuisinart ice cream maker so this month for auntie's birthday mommy gave her some vintage-inspired glass banana split and old-fashioned sundae dishes. i sure hope auntie makes me ice cream someday. i think it tastes kind of like my yummy milk... yummm-o!

getting ready to party

mommy usually has fridays off and she works on her dissertation while i spend time with daddy but today daddy and uncle andy went to the gym so i went over to uncle andy's house to play with auntie lisa. when mommy picked me up i came home to help her get ready for her party but i didn't really feel like getting ready for the party so mostly i just kept mommy from getting things done until daddy came home. daddy took extra long and i don't think mommy was very happy but when he came home we hung out together and we both helped mommy get everything in order. tonight was the going away party for our friend genevieve:

and her husband matt:

they are driving to minnesota in a cupcake delivery truck. bon voyage gen & matt!

early riser, happy shopper, perfect partner

today i was up bright and early to help mommy greet the day! we got up at 5 and by 7am we were out in the yard watering her plants and listening to the birds. here i am, in my usual post, the bouncy seat, supervising the watering:

today i had to wear my baby legs, it was a little chilly out that early!

after we came inside we cleaned up and just as we were getting ready to run some errands for mommy's party tomorrow uncle andy and auntie lisa stopped by to see if we wanted to go to washington square with them. mommy and i both love shopping but we're trying to save some dough so we decided to go along and we promised each other we wouldn't buy anything, pinky swear.

at janie and jack i tried on some super cute stuff but mommy and i remembered our promise and stuck to our $0 budget.

we had lunch at the nordstrom cafe and auntie lisa bought some pretty sweaters for work.

we went to costco and trader joe's to buy food for mommy's party for our friend genevieve. gen is moving far away to minnesota for her internship. i'm so glad mommy gets to stay in portland and i can stay in my room!

a visit from GG!

today i had a fantastic surprise visit from my GG (great-grandma). i love her so much and i missed her! she used to take care of my when auntie tay was still in school. GG is so much fun. we read books, played in my play gym, rode my cowboy jumperoo, and folded laundry for mommy. i hope GG comes again soon, i love spending time with her!

simply tuesday

today i worked on rolling over and sitting up with auntie tay. we of course had fun playing all day. i gave mommy a hard time at bedtime and she finally let me cry it out. i lasted a whole 12 minutes at full-strength before finally exhausting myself and, i admit, i gave in.

auntie tay is back!

my auntie tay returned last night to care for me this week. she's here until Wednesday. we always have lots of fun together. today she helped me with my summer reading program by reading several books to me. i also spent lots of time in tummy time and i'm getting closer to rolling over! when mommy came home the three of us went to the store for groceries and then mommy and auntie tay gave me my bath and i called it a night.

happy 5 months to me!

i am officially 5 months old today, hooray!

this morning we went to church and listened to a terrific sermon on Isaiah from one of daddy's seminary professors. i was very well-behaved and mommy was very proud of me. i did take a little snoozer in the middle of the service but even mommy was getting sleepy because the sanctuary was too hot!

after church we went to thanh thao, a yummy thai restaurant on hawthorne with my buddy curtis and his family and then we came home for a family nap.

i think this evening when it cools off we might meet auntie tay and mimi and moPa at the park, i can't wait!

saturday sun-day fun-day!

today was a hot one! mommy and i got up early and enjoyed the cool, crisp morning before it got too hot. we listened to the early birds as we sat on a blanket in the shade of our big tree. mommy read some of my library books to me and i played with some toys:

i worked on sitting up like a big boy and rolling over. both still need some work but i'll get it. i am getting good at silly faces:

while i had my morning nap daddy and mommy worked in the yard and after i woke up i helped mommy get ready for her our company. matt and misty and my good friend kylie came over to play and auntie lisa and uncle andy had dinner with all of us so they could meet the Lagasse family. we all had lots of fun:

today my daddy had a dental appointment and mommy had to see some patients so i spent a few hours with uncle andy. we had a grand time. he read two of my new library books to me and we sat outside in the shade under a tree on a blanket and played with my toys. i talked a lot, uncle andy is a great listener. here we are being buddies:

after daddy got home all the guys hung out together and i rode Dexter around the living room and daddy read me the choo choo book:

in the evening my auntie lisa came over and played with me:

adventures in the wild errr... northeast

hello everybody. since i'm practically five months old now i figured it was about time i started chronicling and detailing the events of my sojourns about town. daddy loves to read blogs so mommy thought this might be a good way to record things.

remember the herb and vegetable garden mommy and i planted?

well, it's completely overrun with weeds and mommy is rather distressed about it so she had big plans today to do some more gardening and lawn work but i just wasn't feeling it. i preferred instead to suck on my green thumb. so after much effort had been made by mommy to arrange a lovely little resting place in the shade for me to watch her work i let her know that i wasn't down with the whole earth- mommy- clean- organic- veggies- in- the- dirt thing and i made loud protests until she finally gave up. isn't that what farmers markets are for? we cleaned up and after my afternoon nap we headed over to our local branch of the Multnomah County Library.

i'm beginning to take a greater interest in reading now and mommy has read most of my books a number of times so we decided to visit the library for some variety. our library has a program to encourage young literary-minded individuals like myself to read and they sent us one of my favorite books (see my recommended reading list on the sidebar) along with some coupons for more books. mommy couldn't wait for this outing so today, since she had the day off and wanted to spend it with me, we got me a new library card! here are some of the titles i'll be reading in the youth summer reading program:
